Cape motorcyclist killed in crash on I-75

A motorcyclist from Cape Coral was killed in an accident Tuesday night on I-75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when two motorcyclists, both from Cape Coral, were traveling at a high rate of speed south on Interstate 75, south of mile marker 138, in Lee County, when both drivers lost control and collided.

Post collision within the travel lanes, both motorcyclists became separated from the motorcycles, officers reported.

Both motorcycles came to final rest on the west grass shoulder, several hundred feet south of the area of collision.

One of the motorcyclists, a 21-year-old man was pronounced deceased on scene. The other cyclist, 18, sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, the FHP said.
