Cape man faces child pornography charges

A Cape Coral man has been arrested on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Alejandro Mendoza Blanco, 32, of 1616 SE 6th Ave. was charged Tuesday with with 10 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child and two counts possession or promotion of certain images of child pornography.

The arrest came after the Cape Coral Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a suspect was downloading and viewing child sexual abuse material.

“Detectives interviewed Mendoza Blanco and he initially denied all involvement. An investigation ensued, resulting in a search warrant at the suspect’s residence,” a release from the CCPD issued this morning states.

Special Victims Unit Detectives on Tuesday executed a search warrant at his home with Mendoza Blanco present.

“At the conclusion of the investigation, Mendoza Blanco was found in possession of child sexual abuse material and was charged accordingly,” the release states.

As of 9 a.m. this morning Mendoza Blanco remained in the Lee County Jail. Bond has not been set.
