Cape man killed in motorcycle crash on US 41 in Fort Myers

On April 22, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single motorcycle crash on US 41, south of Gladiolus Drive, in Lee County. The driver of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old man from Cape Coral was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, a 42-year-old woman from Garrison, N.Y., sustained critical injuries, was transported to an area hospital where she later died.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol incident report, the motorcycle driver was traveling south in the inside lane on US 41, south of Gladiolus Drive, when he lost control with the motorcycle overturning onto its side. Both the driver and passenger became separated from the motorcycle which came to rest in the inside lane of US 41. According to the report, it is unknown if either were wearing helmets.

The crash remains under investigation.
