Cape Coral Police have charged a man with theft, criminal mischief and drug-related charges following an incident over the weekend.

According to a report from the CCPD, on Saturday, March 2, at approximately 9:13 p.m., Cape officers responded to a theft in progress at a local business near the 1400 block of Southeast 47th Terrance in Cape Coral.

While officers were en route, the reporting party said that a male cut the chain on his electric bike, then stole the bike and took off northbound.

The CCPD report says that responding officers quickly located the alleged suspect on a bike in the area. An officer turned on his emergency activation lights and the suspect looked back at the officer but refused to stop, continuing to ride forward. After additional commands, the suspect eventually stopped, police said.

The suspect identified himself as Noah Christopher Hoth, 23, of Miramar Street in Cape Coral. The investigation revealed that Hoth allegedly cut the lock and took the bike, knowing it was not his.

Hoth was placed under arrest and searched according to protocol. Officers located a glass pipe with burnt white residue on it, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, in Hoth’s fanny pack.

Hoth was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with grand theft, resisting without violence, criminal mischief and obsession of drug paraphernalia.
