Cape Council approves $17 million construction contract for Festival park

Cape Coral City Council approved a contract for Festival Park for $17 million Wednesday night with the contract calling for a substantial completion of 450 days.

The item was not pulled during the consent agenda portion of the meeting to further discussion and was passed unanimously.

The contract is with Burke Construction Group, Inc. base bid amount is $16,980,939.63 with a 5% city-controlled contingency of $849,046.98 for a total project amount of $17,829,986.61. The development of Festival Park is adjacent to Argosy Lake and Seahawk Park.

The project is part of the November 2018 approved General Obligation funding of $60 million for park improvements.

Festival Park will have two main areas – four fenced multi-use sports fields with lighting and an amphitheater with grass seating. Two of the sports fields will have artificial turf, and the other two natural grass. The site can be expanded to a maximum of 10 fields with lighting.

Other improvements include a concession/restroom building and paved parking.
