Hodges University releases statement about closing
Hodges Unversity has released the following statement on its decision to close after 33 years in Fort Myers:
“Hodges University Board of Trustees has made the difficult decision to not enroll any new
degree-seeking students for September 2023 and to take the necessary steps to begin to cease
operations on or before the end of August, 2024. Despite continuous efforts to adapt to changing
educational landscapes and provide innovative programs, Hodges University has experienced a
decline in student enrollment in recent years. This decline, combined with ongoing financial
challenges, has created an unsustainable environment, ultimately leading to the difficult decision
by the Board of Trustees to close.
“Hodges University is committed to supporting currently enrolled students as they complete their
studies. All necessary resources and guidance will be provided to ensure a smooth transition and
minimize any disruptions to their education. Many of our students will be able to complete their
degree at Hodges and we are actively working with other accredited institutions to establish
transfer agreements and options for students who will need to continue their educational pursuits
elsewhere.
“The administration and faculty at Hodges University extend their deepest gratitude to all the
students, families, and staff members who have been part of the university’s journey since 1990.
We are grateful for the support and dedication shown by our faculty and staff in helping shape
the lives of countless students throughout the years.
Hodges University would like to express sincere appreciation to the local community,
businesses, and organizations that have supported us throughout the years. Your commitment to
accessible higher education has changed lives and made an impact throughout our community.
