Florida Highway Patrol investigates series of hit and runs

By Staff | Mar 6, 2023

On March 6, at 5:56 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a series of hit-and-run traffic crashes – the first initially occurring on McGregor Boulevard and two later occurring on Daniels Parkway and Interstate 75.

A 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck (white in color), driven by an unknown white male, was initially involved in a hit-and-run traffic crash on McGregor Boulevard. The driver fled the scene after damaging another vehicle.

Post collision, troopers determined the same Chevrolet truck began to follow and take aggressive actions in the area of Gladiolus Drive, toward a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 23-year-old female. As the Chevrolet truck continued to follow the other driver for several miles, the Chevrolet truck driver intentionally collided with the Chevrolet Equinox in the area of eastbound Daniels Parkway and the entrance ramp to southbound Interstate 75 (no injuries).

In an effort to flee the scene, the Chevrolet truck driver traveled over the median divider and collided with a 2018 Toyota Corolla (no injuries). A witness, driving a 2010 Toyota Prius, stopped to assist with the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet truck, exited the vehicle, stole the Toyota Prius, and fled south on Interstate 75.

The criminal investigation remains ongoing, anyone with information is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crimestoppers.
