Capobianco awarded the Neher Scholarship at Manchester University

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. — Nathan Capobianco of Cape Coral has been awarded the 2022 Oscar W. and Etha Neher Memorial Scholarship at Man-chester University.

Capobianco is majoring in sport management at the university in northern Indiana.

The family and friends of Oscar W. and Etha Neher established this endowed scholarship fund upon their deaths. Oscar Neher was a long-time professor of biology at Manchester and was associated with the college for more than 40 years.

Hodges University to host ‘For the Health of It’ event Nov. 10

Hodges University is hosting a “For the Health of It” event for everyone interested in a healthcare career. The event takes place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, on the Hodges University campus, 4501 Colonial Blvd., Building U.

“This is a chance for everyone wanting to pursue a healthcare career to meet our professors, see the modern labs and classrooms where they gain the knowledge and master the skills they need to succeed, and ask questions,” said Dr. John Meyer, President of Hodges University.

Attendees can explore healthcare programs that include the seven-week EMT certificate, bachelor’s of science in nursing, bachelor’s of science in dental hygiene and the associate in science in physical therapist assistant programs.

Ten school administrators chosen for state leadership program

The School District of Lee County congratulates 10 school administrators chosen to take part in the 2022-2023 Florida Collaborative Leadership for All Student’s Success program. The FL-CLASS Program, sponsored by the Florida Department of Education, is a professional learning opportunity for school administrators to grow their leadership skills and foster impactful learning outcomes for teachers and students.

Chosen for the program are:

• James Stephens Elementary Principal Kelly Stedman and Assistant Principal Jacqueline Fantasia

• Lehigh Senior High School Principal Jackie Corey and Assistant Principal Susan Souza

• Ray V. Pottorf Elementary Principal Brandy Macchia and Assistant Principal Angela McCaslin

• School Development Executive Director Linda Maere

• School Development Executive Director Dr. Marsha Bur

The School District of Lee County is proud to recognize these outstanding leaders,” says Chief Academic Officer Dr. Jeff Spiro. “The Leadership Collaborative is an important step in their professional development journey. We know their participation will not only benefit them professionally, but their learning will continue to give back to the students and educators in Lee County for years to come.”

The FL-CLASS Program consists of a series of in-person and virtual learning opportunities. The Program begins in November 2022 and concludes in June 2023. The program provides job-embedded, research-based learning across the leadership continuum. Educational leaders will create a statewide vision for instructional leadership, develop skills to promote educator growth and retention, and develop a deep knowledge of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards with a focus on leading for literacy.

Only 200 educational leaders across Florida are being invited to participate.
