Douglas Edward Skoczek, 67, of Cape Coral, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation, for Human Trafficking of a Minor, Sexual Battery, and Lewd or Lascivious Conduct of a Minor. He is also now designated a Sexual Predator.

He pled guilty to all of the charges.

On Dec. 4, 2021, the Cape Coral Police Department served a search warrant at the defendant’s home in the southwest Cape involving a sexual battery complaint. Multiple electronic devices were seized. On the hard drive of a computer, forensic processing revealed multiple videos of a sexual nature, recorded with a camera set up in the bedroom. The victim was seen on the video being sexually battered. The defendant was located and arrested the next day.

Following his arrest, a high school student gave a statement to the Cape Coral Police Department, that they had been raped by the defendant on multiple occasions, after meeting him on an online dating site. Based on the information from that victim, a second investigation and second search warrant was executed at the house and additional evidence was located.

Cape Coral Police Major Crimes Detectives continued the investigation after the defendant’s arrest which developed information leading to additional victims in the case. The State Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit worked with the Cape Coral Police Department as these cases developed. SVU Chief Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo and Assistant State Attorney Michael Curley filed charges and prosecuted the cases, resulting in the prison sentence today.
