Comcast Xfinity WiFi van now providing free internet connectivity in Cape Coral
Three more WiFi vans also set up around Southwest Florida
Starting today, Comcast has an Xfinity WiFi Van stationed in Lee County in Cape Coral to provide free internet connectivity as the community continues to recover from Hurricane Ian.
The Xfinity WiFi Van is at the Walmart Supercenter at 1619 Del Prado Blvd. S in Cape Coral. It is set up in the Walmart parking lot between Coach Road and Del Prado Blvd. S, directly south of Coral Point Drive.
Comcast’s three additional Xfinity WiFi vans are still stationed at locations around Southwest Florida:
• Bonita Springs: Bonita Springs Public Library at 2687 Pine Ave.
• Fort Myers: Walmart Supercenter at 17105 San Carlos Blvd.
• Port Charlotte: Walmart Neighborhood Market (Charlotte Square) at 2150 Tamiami Trail.
Each Xfinity WiFi van can provide wireless internet connectivity to more than 1,000 users at one time over a 300-square-foot area. The vans will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until further notice.
Service Restoration Update
Comcast’s response team of more than 1,700 technicians and network maintenance and engineering specialists continue to make steady progress repairing the damages to its equipment and infrastructure caused by Hurricane Ian. Restoration updates and the latest timeline by location canbe found at Florida.Comcast.com.
Currently, 13 of Comcast’s service areas in Southwest Florida have been predominantly restored, which means that its network in those locations is operational, and service has been restored to more than 90 percent of the customers there.
There may still be small pocket outages in some areas, which impact services for individual homes or neighborhood streets. Comcast crews will continue to work until services are restored for all customers in every service area.
