Rental property registration requirements for Cape Coral homes

By Staff | Sep 21, 2022

The city of Cape Coral reminds residents that the city has a Residential Rental Property Registration Ordinance in place, which requires that all residential structures with four units or fewer that are leased or rented must be registered. There is a one-time registration fee of $35.

Properties exempt from registration include:

– Rental properties owned by federal, state, or local housing programs

– HUD

– Hotels and motels

– Any residential facility licensed and inspected by the state of Florida that doesn’t have owner-occupied units.

Failure to register is a violation of City Ordinance and will subject the owner to code enforcement procedures. See the Rental Registration Brochure for more information and details required to register.

Rental property registration questions can be directed to Carol Rall, Customer Service Supervisor, crall@capecoral.gov or 239-574-0624.
