Cape Bike Night

Popular event returns Saturday on Southeast 47th Terrace

By CJ HADDAD - | Oct 7, 2021

Residents missing the full-throttle action of a popular nightlife event can prime their engines once again, as Bike Night is back in Cape Coral.

The city’s Special Events Division has received the green light to return the staple event this Saturday on Southeast 47th Terrace — the first Bike Night since February of 2020.

“We’re ready to have a great event for our community and we’re looking forward to seeing folks come out and enjoy the music and the fun,” said Special Events Coordinator Todd King.

Bike Night officially starts at 5 p.m. and features a vendor’s village, along with a main stage with live music. Local classic rock n’ roll band “Bad Latitude” serves as the headliner, who is sure to blare some crowd favorites and classics all night.

Bad Latitude is a four-piece rock band made up of Dion Sharp (vocals, guitar), Mark Sturman (drums), Rafael Cartelli (bass) and Marshall Stakks (lead guitar).

New to Bike Nights this year is the Harley’s Angels Bike Show Contest, where those with the most tricked out and heard-turning choppers can display their rides for all to see. The contest is free to enter (limited spots available), and votes will be cast by attendees from 6 to 8 p.m. The winner will receive a Rockstar Harley Davidson gift card.

“We’re looking for the coolest bike in the Cape,” King said. “Anybody on the street can come in and check out the bikes and place their vote.”

The event, which culminates at 10 p.m., will line South Cape’s 47th Terrace from Vincennes Boulevard to Southeast 8th Court. Fifty vendors and food trucks will take part and many local establishments also will join in on the festivities.

“The whole venue is full of rock and roll,” King said. “A lot of street establishments participate with their own bands. We have the main stage where people can enjoy our headliner band. An amazing number of motorcycles will be at the venue along with some amazing vendors and great food. Come out and enjoy the camaraderie, the rock and roll, and the experience.”

With the pandemic putting the kibosh on countless city events over the last year-plus, King and his team are chomping at the bit to present entertainment opportunities for the public, including two addition Bike Night events on Feb. 12 and April 9 of 2022.

“We’re ready to have a season of community events,” he said.

Organizers encourage the use of ride share services (Lyft/Uber/taxi) for both responsible drinking and to assist guests in getting to the venue in the safest, most efficient way. There is limited parking on-site, including motorcycle parking on the south side of 47th Terrace until 11 p.m.
