A staple of southern cuisine will take over the South Cape next weekend, as barbecue reigns supreme.

The South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Association is set to host its annual South Cape BBQ Pub Crawl and Trolley Event on Sept. 18, where attendees can enjoy drink and food samples surrounding a barbecue theme.

The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m., with a myriad of opportunities for savory eats, unique drinks, prizes and a good time.

“SCHEA is very excited to host the BBQ Pub Crawl Trolley Event,” said Marketing Director Shannon Quinn. “Barbecue in itself is a popular cuisine. Now combine barbecue, creative drink and food samples, and trolleys –everyone loves it.”

A 21-plus nightlife event, the pub crawl takes guests via trolley or by foot to 11 local bars and restaurants. At each establishment, attendees will receive their drink and barbecue-themed appetizer sample. There will be an official photo booth and photo booth contest, and guests can also win prizes throughout the night. This year’s grand prize for getting your passport stamped at each location is a barbecue -themed gift basket. The winners of the photo booth contest will receive four tickets to the Spooktacular trolley event in September.

“We always look forward to seeing a grill master, or two,” Quinn said.

Attendees are encouraged to dress the part and to expect lots of entertainment, including live music, dancing, singing and more.

“All of the themed events bring excitement to our trolley guests,” Quinn said. “It really depends on the personal palate, but you won’t be disappointed. We have guests that return for each event and others that seek out specific ones. For this particular event, we are really excited to have new locations participating. And with new locations, comes new ideas. SCHEA loves to see everyone get creative.”

Tickets to the event are $20-$30 and include a wristband to board all of the trolleys, passport of locations, your food and drink sample, eligibility to win prizes and access to the photo booth located at the South Cape Hub at 909 Southeast 47th Terrace #105.

Guests can check-in from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Cape Hub, and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the hub and also Big John’s Plaza. Late check-in will take place at the hub until 10 p.m.

Tickets, including designated driver tickets, are available on Eventbrite or at the South Cape Hub (cash only). Designated driver tickets include everything the normal ticket does, other than the drink sample, which can be replaced with a non-alcoholic beverage.
