Fire causes smoke damage to Cape Coral home

By CJ HADDAD - | Jul 13, 2021

A fire at a Cape Coral home Tuesday morning has resulted in two residents being displaced for the time being.

The Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Country Club Boulevard in the Bimini Basin neighborhood in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, CCFD officials said the fire was “pretty much out.”

While there was no structural damage to the home, CCFD spokesperson Andrea Schuch said, “There was, however, a great deal of smoke damage.”

The local American Red Cross volunteers from the Florida Gulf Coast to Heartland Chapter helped coordinate emergency aid to the two people impacted by the fire.

Schuch added, “The smoke damage is too great for the residents to stay there at this time.”

The Red Cross provided emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, one-on-one support to connect people to available recovery assistance and will continue to provide additional support to the family to meet their disaster-caused needs.
