A polarizing Cape Coral car dealer lauded for “huge” savings passed away last week.

William “Billy” Fuccillo Sr., 65, known for his booming personality on TV and radio ads for the Cape Coral Kia dealership he had recently sold passed away peacefully at his home in Sarasota last Thursday.

Fuccillo, a Greenport, New York native and Syracuse University football standout was the president and CEO of the Fuccillo Automotive Group; the largest privately held automotive retailer in New York and the largest Kia dealer in the world.

Residents across Southwest Florida and in New York were familiar with his one-of-a-kind voice and “huuuge” delivery, as Fuccillo operated a dealership on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, which he opened in November 2010, and another in Port Charlotte, as well as those in Upstate New York.

A dealership purchase agreement to sell the Cape Coral and Port Charlotte locations was entered into in September 2020 with LMP Automotive. A residence he owned in Cape Coral also was sold.

According to his obituary, Fuccillo’s accolades include selling 2020 vehicles in one month at his dealership in Syracuse and 500 vehicles in one day at the Fuccillo Auto Mall. He holds the record for both Hyundais and Kias sold in one month.

Fuccillo was also very charitable, as he contributed to various organizations including domestic violence organizations, Harry Chapin Food Bank, Salvation Army, Assumption Food Pantry, Center for Disability Services and more.

He enjoyed golfing, food and wine, sports, and was a thoroughbred owner.

Fuccillo is survived by his wife, Cynthia; son William Fuccillo Jr.; his parents; sister and brother; as well as nieces.

A funeral Mass in celebration of his life will be in Syracuse this Friday.
