Cape Coral man charged with possession of child sexual abuse material

By Breeze Staff Report - | May 11, 2021

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents serving a search warrant arrested a Cape Coral man Tuesday after they “uncovered numerous videos of children involved in sex acts” on his home computer.

Ryan Anthony Rice, 32, of 606 S.E. 17th St. was charged with 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, a third degree felony. Due to the number of videos/images and the sexual battery of children depicted in the videos, though, each count qualifies to be enhanced to second degree felony, officials said.

“FDLE agents took Rice into custody today after agents executed a search warrant at his home and forensic examinations of Rice’s computer uncovered numerous videos of children involved in sex acts,” an FDLE release announcing the arrest states. “Some of the child victims where under the age of five. The Cape Coral Police Department assisted with the search warrant.”

“During the execution of the search warrant, special agents located several media devices, including a desktop/tower located in Ryan Rice’s bedroom,” the arrest report probable cause affidavit states, adding an on-scene forensic audit was conducted by an FDLE digital forensic consultant who officials say discovered child pornography files on Ryan Rice’s desktop/tower computer.

“All the child pornography files were located in a downloads folder under the username, ‘Ryan,'” the report states.

Rice was booked into the Lee County Jail where he remained as of Tuesday afternoon. No bond had yet been set.

Additional charges are dependent upon completion of forensics exams, officials said.

The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
