Public hearing Dec. 18 for adoption of 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan

The Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization will hold a public hearing for the adoption of the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan Friday, Dec. 18, at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Lee County Administration East Facility, 2201 Second St., Room 118, Fort Myers. This location is accessible by transit by LeeTran Route 20 or the Gold Trolley Route, and more information on service can be found at www.rideleetran.com.

The 2045 Transportation Plan Adoption Summary Report and further information on the Long Range Plan can be found here: https://leempo.com/wp-content/uploads/M08a.2045-LRTP-Adoption-Summary-Report.pdf www.leempo.com. The Long Range Plan identifies the cost feasible transportation projects for roads, transit and bicycle/pedestrian improvements through the year 2045.

 The MPO Board will also be holding a public hearing to consider an amendment to the FY 2020/2021 through FY 2024/2025 Transportation Improvement Program to add $200,000 in operating assistance for LeeTran. The TIP includes the federal and state funded transportation projects that are programmed in Lee County over the next five years.

Hard copies of the documents are available by contacting the MPO offices at 239-244-2220. Written comments may be submitted by e-mail to dscott@leempo.com, faxed to 239-790-2695 or mailed to P.O. Box 150045 Cape Coral, FL 33915-0045. Written comments received by the end of the business day on Thursday, Dec. 17, will be presented to the MPO board members on Dec. 18, where formal adoption will be decided.

Public comments may also be made at the MPO Board meeting Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Lee County Administration East Facility, 2201 Second St., Room 118, Fort Myers. Additional information about the Long Range Plan may be found on the MPO’s website at: www.leempo.com.
