UPDATE: At 6:38 p.m. Thursday, the Cape Coral Police Department reported that a missing youth, Derrick Fletcher Jr., had been found and was safe.

The missing person report, issued at 5:46 p.m. Thursday, indicated that Cape Coral Police were asking the public for assistance helping Fletcher, who was last seen on Northeast 6th Street at approximately 3:10 p.m. after being locked out of his home accidentally after school.

Police reported that Derrick had called his parent from the neighbor’s residence who instructed him to stay at the location. However, Derrick left and authorities were unable to find him.
