Lee County sheriff’s detectives are searching for the person or persons responsible for breaking into the Obama/Biden campaign headquarters in Fort Myers Sunday.

Deputies were called to the headquarters located at 8750 (Unit 12) Gladiolus Drive at approximately 7:25 a.m. They were met by an employee who said he arrived at the office at approximately 7:15 a.m. and discovered the glass front door to the office had been smashed and broken, top to bottom. The employee related that no computers had been stolen or tampered with and that there were no political statements or acts of graffiti left behind.

The only thing that appeared to be missing was a manila envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

Surveillance cameras captured images of a male subject in the area during the overnight hours when the campaign headquarters was burglarized. Detectives say he is a person of interest and they would very much like to speak with him. The subject is a young white male with dark hair. He was wearing shorts and sandals and carrying a back pack as he walked near the Obama/Biden Headquarters.
