Earth Month takes place during April every year and demonstrates the support for environmental protection. One of the highlights of this month is Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, which is the largest civic event globally, drawing over a billion participants each year. In line with this spirit, Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. (KLCB) engages hundreds of volunteers to take action in our local community through education, litter cleanups, and beautification projects throughout Earth Month.

“Earth Month and Earth Day is a time that individuals contribute to protecting the environment, reflect on their own behaviors, or to make changes in their personal lives to reduce waste and choose more sustainable options,” said Executive Director Trish Fancher. “Keep Lee County Beautiful provides opportunities for members of our community to participate in hands-on projects that make an immediate impact.”

For Earth Month, Keep Lee County Beautiful held 26 litter cleanups including their annual Great American Cleanup and Global Youth Service Day. KLCB had 395 volunteers remove 3,339 pounds of trash and debris from the environment. KLCB held six beautification events, planting 178 trees and cleaned the Veteran Memorial at the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. KLCB also participated in six outreach events educating 1,425 individuals on the importance of protecting Mother Earth.

Keep Lee County Beautiful recently marked a significant milestone by celebrating its 35th anniversary of serving the community. KLCB is truly grateful for the volunteers and community partners who have been instrumental in their journey. Keep Lee County Beautiful takes pride in being an active participant in the community, working hand in hand to enhance the beauty of Lee County.
