Sun Splash opens for its ’24 season this Saturday

Annual pass specials now available for expanded calendar that runs through Dec. 1

With the usual hot and hazy conditions of Southwest Florida on the horizon, the area’s largest water park is ready to welcome the community to its grounds for another season of aquatic adventure.

Sun Splash Family Waterpark opens for the 2024 season this Saturday for its longest season ever, remaining open through Dec. 1.

Ron McKenzie, chief marketing officer for ProParks Attractions Group, now in its third year of operating the city-owned water park, said it should be a season jam-packed with something for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re very excited about opening up the park this weekend for the season,” he said. “We’re hoping for a big spring.”

After this opening weekend, Sun Splash will be open daily for Spring Break from March 15 to April 1. The park will then go to a Thursday-through-Sunday schedule through May. Summer daily hours of operation take place from May 24 through Sept. 2, and return to a Thursday- through-Sunday schedule through October and weekends only November through Dec. 1.

McKenzie said the partnership with the city and ProParks has been great, and that the attractions group has fallen in love with the region, with big plans on the way.

“We’re in love with the market,” McKenzie said. “We love the Cape Coral, Fort Myers market — the whole Southwest Florida corridor.

“And to see the resilience of a community coming together after (Hurricane) Ian, and the impact… the resilience of the market was just a true testament to why we want to be there. We’ve got great future plans working with the city working on some potential park expansions and things of that nature. We love the park, we love the people, and we’re excited to get into the park shortly here and start to do some expansion plans and grow it to accommodate even more guests. There’s really no other water park nearby that people are able to experience, so we want to be that go-to place.”

Season Passes are now on sale for $59.99 plus tax for a limited time. The 2024 Season Pass comes with a variety of benefits including unlimited visits; early entry 30 minutes before opening; discounts on food, beverage (excluding alcohol), and cabana rentals. The Pineapple Pass, which offers all the great pass perks of a Season Pass, allows the passholder to bring a friend with them for every visit to the park plus provides the passholder with an unlimited (non-alcoholic) drink wristband on every visit. McKenzie said the season pass rates are to increase following this weekend. One-day admission tickets are available online with a $5 savings discount off the at gate admission.

“Me, being a parent, the most common phrase I heard this summer was ‘I’m bored. What do we want to do?'” McKenzie said. “A season pass allows people to visit as many times as they’d like over the course of the season. It’s a quick way to keep the kids busy and a great option for the family, even if it’s just for a few hours. They pay for themselves after two visits. In addition to that, the pass comes with discounts, and early entry into the park. Water and shade are the two biggest commodities at a water park. By allowing our season passholders in early, they can pick out their spot for the day. And we periodically put on events that are just exclusive to our passholders. It really is a great way to enjoy the park, and is very affordable.”

Sun Splash Family Waterpark features water slides, lazy river, pool, interactive play area, and more. Guests can look forward to entertainment, food options, and a vibrant atmosphere that will make every visit memorable. McKenzie said continuing to add to an already-packed schedule of special events is one reason why Sun Splash is a destination spot for individuals and families alike.

“This year, we’re really leaning into our special events,” McKenzie said. “We’ve added more events than ever before. The thought of operating a waterpark all the way through Dec. 1 is exciting to us.”

Special events to take place this season include: Spring Break DJ Dance Parties; St. Patrick’s Day Food & Fun; Easter Weekend; Champion’s Day Spring Celebration; Sunsets@SunSplash; Viva La Fiesta Cinco De Mayo Party; Mother’s Day Celebration; Memorial Day Weekend; Prince & Princess Day; Sunsets @ SunSplash; Dad’s Day; World’s Largest Swim Lesson; Half-Way to Christmas; Independence Day; July Family Fun Fridays; Sunsets@SunSplash; Champions Day Summer Olympic Day Celebration; National Water Park Day; Aloha Back to School Supply Drive; Season Pass Appreciation Month; Spooky Splash Bash; Share What You Can Food Drive; End of Season Holiday Celebration.
