AHVED deems its Thanksgiving Bash & Family Fun Days a success

By Staff | Nov 29, 2023

The Association of Haitians Living Abroad for Development (AHVED) recently concluded its Thanksgiving Bash & Family Fun Days, a three-day event aimed at spreading holiday cheer and support throughout the community.

This celebration took place at various locations from Nov. 17-19 and encompassed a range of activities and the gift of 1,100 turkeys to deserving families. The event locations spanned across Fort Myers, Naples, and Immokalee, bringing together a vibrant mix of communities. Each day was packed with festive activities, including free turkey giveaways, abundant feasts, essential health screenings, opportunities for free health insurance enrollment, children’s activities, diverse vendor offerings, and more. It was a remarkable occasion for unity and shared Thanksgiving spirit. AHVED’s primary mission during these Family Fun Days was to ensure every individual could relish a warm meal and the joy of family fun during the Thanksgiving season.

The success of the event was made possible through collaboration with several esteemed organizations, including Florida Blue, Best Insurance USA, Sante Plus Medical Center, Godoy Law, P.A., VaxTruths, Radio Evolution Inter 88.3 FM, and Midwest Food Bank. This event marks just the beginning of AHVED’s ongoing commitment to providing valuable services to the community.

In addition to the festivities, the event also served as a comprehensive support system for the community, offering personalized health insurance reviews, technology access with free laptops and cell phones, and invaluable legal support provided by Godoy Law Firm, P.A.

AHVED, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2007, remains dedicated to empowering Haitians worldwide, supporting Haitian immigrants in the United States, and promoting education, youth activities, patriotism, and social responsibility.
