School District’s Neighborhood Dialogues to resume next week

By Staff | Dec 9, 2022

The School District of Lee County is resuming the Neighborhood Dialogues planned as follow up meetings to Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier’s Town Hall Event’s in September. Three events postponed by Hurricane Ian have been reschedule for Dec. 12, 13 and 20.

A community discussion is planned for each zone, East, South and West. Families and community members can attend the one most convenient to them.

• Monday, Dec. 12, 5:30-7 p.m., James Stephens Elementary, 1333 Marsh Ave., Fort Myers.

• Tuesday, Dec. 13, 5:30-7 p.m., North Fort Myers Academy of the Arts, 1856 Arts Way, North Fort Myers

• Tuesday, Dec. 20, 5:30-7 p.m., Heights Elementary, 15200 Alexandria Court, Fort Myers.

Due to the time lost by Hurricane Ian, the district is focused on improving the enrollment and assignment system for elementary school in the 2023-2024 school year. Parent feedback will help District staff develop a plan for School Board consideration in January. A plan for middle school will be revisited later. High schools are not impacted by the potential changes.

Additional information about the Neighborhood Dialogues is available on the School District’s website at https://www.leeschools.net/cms/one.aspx?portalId=676305&pageId=32186600.
