FGCU nursing program earns top ranking in state

Florida Gulf Coast University has earned a top ranking among the best RN programs in the state of Florida.

According to a report on the 2023 Top Ranked Nursing Schools by RegisteredNursing.org, FGCU has earned the No. 2 spot on the list, second only to the College of Central Florida – Citrus.

FGCU in Fort Myers offers a full-time BSN program to train future nurses for roles in healthcare and patient advocacy. With an evidence-based course of study that promotes nursing excellence, FGCU graduates are a welcome addition to the health care team, according to the report from RegisteredNursing.org.

The methodology for selecting the top nursing programs included analyzing NCLEX-RN exam passing rates over the past five years, along with such contributing factors as tuition cost, average program length, geo coverage, educational pathways and partnerships and the number of cohorts annually.

In the state of Florida, 148 schools were analyzed with 20 earning high rankings, according to the report.

Van Horn named to Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Bryce Van Horn of Cape Coral has been named to the summer 2022 quarter Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiro-practic’s Florida Campus in Port Orange, Florida.

Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and largest college in the chiropractic profession, has campuses in Davenport, Iowa; San Jose, California; and Port Orange, Florida.

Capobianco awarded Simon-Bleke scholarship at Manchester University

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. — Nathan Capobianco of Cape Coral has been awarded a Leonora Simon-Bleke Memorial Scholarship at Manchester University.

This endowed fund was established in 1997 through a generous bequest by Leonora Simon-Bleke. She was a member of the Manchester Class of 1928 and a life-long friend of Manchester.

She taught all of her professional life in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana. During the last 35 years of her career, she taught biological science at Elmhurst High School.

Capobianco, who is majoring in sport management, was also recently awarded the 2022 Oscar W. and Etha Neher Memorial Scholarship at the university.
