The Preserve, a skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care community, hosted the Mariners High School JROTC team for a Fourth of July celebration for its residents.

The Fourth of July ceremony included a Color Guard presentation of the colors, The National Anthem, remarks from the cadets and a flag-folding ceremony followed by a performance of “God Bless America” and other patriotic songs by a few members of Preserve associates, who are military veterans.

The Preserve recently sponsored a portion of the Mariners JROTC team trip to nationals where they placed ninth in the nation.

“Our Fourth of July celebration was a great opportunity to celebrate the holiday with our residents and give them an opportunity to see a presentation by the nationally ranked Mariners JROTC,” said Rachel Byrd, director of sales and marketing, The Preserve. “Providing our residents with events where they can interact with each other, our staff and members of the community can make a huge impact on the mental well-being of our seniors. We are proud of the Mariners JROTC and hope to continue to be able to partner with them in the future.”

Opened in 2020, The Preserve, located at 14750 Hope Center Loop, at the corner of Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Plantation Road in Fort Myers, is a Volunteers of America community. The community offers a continuum of care with its intimate assisted living and memory care neighborhoods, short-term rehabilitation services and long-term care nursing community.
