Fundraisers this weekend for Mariner student’s trip to Washington, D.C.
Fundraising Mariner High School sophomore Dante Ellis has been nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security – Diplomacy, Intelligence & Defense in Washington, D.C., this summer, and his family is currently raising funds for the trip, which will cost $5,000.
While he is in Washington, D.C., from July 23-28, Ellis, an JROTC cadet, will have the opportunity to learn the latest intelligence strategies, listen to experts, as well as experience public service in action. The six days will also provide the attendees with the opportunity to do a hands-on simulation.
The experience will give attendees a direct view into various careers, such as national security, foreign affairs, intelligence and defense.
A GoFundMe account has been set up.
In addition, his family is holding a garage sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., today, March 24, through Sunday, March 26, at 3617 N.W. 45th St. to raise additional funds.
