The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28. The time and location of the forum is unchanged: 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the main community room at Gulf Coast Village.

Voters have a chance to learn directly from political candidates on their views and positions on many issues at a candidate forum on Wednesday at Gulf Coast Village.
The Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral is hosting the event that runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the main community room at Gulf Coast Village. It will be a Q & A format with a moderator posing the questions.
“We encourage everyone to participate and be an informed voter,” said Donna Germain, Chamber of Commerce president/CEO. “It’s free and open to the public, but space is limited.”
Invitations were sent to candidates for U.S. Senate; State Representative in Districts 17 and 19; State Senate in Districts 27 and 28; County Commissioner Districts 3 and 5; Lee County Sheriff; Lee County Supervisor of Elections; Lee School Board Districts 2, 6 and 7; Lee Hospital Board District 5; and Mosquito Control Board Areas 1, 5 and 7.
“A majority of the candidates have shown up for past forums,” said Germain, “but we haven’t received all of the notices back from those that will be attending.”
Dubbed “Are You Smarter than a Politician?” members of the audience can participate by answering simple questions along with the candidates. The audience will be issued “clickers” that they will use to answer the questions and find out if their answers and/or those of the politicians are correct.
“The Supervisor of Elections office will have staff there to take a straw poll at the end,” said Germain. “We’ll find out the results the next day and put it on our chamber website and by a press release.”
Gulf Coast Village is at 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd.
