A small airplane landed on southbound Interstate 75 and collided with at least two vehicles, closing southbound and northbound lanes near Pine Ridge Road in Collier County Friday afternoon. The Florida Highway Patrol advised motorists to avoid the area if possible and seek an alternate route.

“The situation is active and developing. We can confirm a plane crashed on SB I-75 near the Pine Ridge Road exit and that at least two vehicles are involved,” Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Greg Bueno said. “Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are on scene and are investigating at this time. Traffic is impacted and there are closures to both north and southbound traffic.”
