A multi-vehicle crash with injuries has been reported on Causeway Boulevard near the Sanibel Chamber of Commerce. The crash is currently blocking the southbound/incoming lane, a release from the city of Sanibel issued at 3:20 p.m. states. The northbound lane is not blocked but outbound traffic is being affected.

“As a result, heavy traffic and delays are currently expected leaving Sanibel Island,” the release states.

Sanibel Police Chief Bill Dalton urges everyone to “be patient.”

“Our number one priority is safety. Please follow the direction of law enforcement personnel and, to reduce congestion and delays, consider avoiding this area if possible.” officials said.
