Ilczyszyn promoted to Public Works director

The city of Cape Coral released this morning, June 20, the status change notice for Michael Ilczyszyn, whose promotion to the role of Public Works director was announced last Tuesday, June. 14.

According to the document, his salary as assistant public works director was $135,948.80 His new annual salary is $162,780.

The city of Cape Coral has promoted Michael Ilczyszyn to the role of Public Works director.

In his new role, he will oversee the Public Works Department, which includes the Transportation, Fleet, Property Management, Environmental Resources, Stormwater, Survey, and Solid Waste Divisions. He will be responsible for directing all functions related to stormwater, transportation, streets, lot mowing, and laboratory testing.

“Mr. Ilczyszyn was instrumental in his role as Assistant Public Works Director and has twenty years of experience working for the City,” a release from the city announcing the promotion states. “Michael Ilczysyn began his career with the City in 2002 as a Water Treatment Plant Operator at the South Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant. He was promoted to Business Manager within the Public Works Department before moving into the City Manager’s Office as the Business Manager for the City.”

Ilczyszyn is a Mariner High School graduate with a Magna Cum Laude in Environmental Studies and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University, the release states.

The release from the city did not include a compensation number related to the promotion and that information was not available from the city’s Office of Communications Tuesday. A Breeze request for compensation related to the promotion and Ilczyszyn’s most current salary was forwarded by the Communications Office to the City Clerk’s Office as a public records request.

According to the city website, as assistant public works director, Ilczyszyn’s annual salary for 2021 was approximately $135,949 with gross wages of $144,139, including “other wages.”
