Cape Animal Shelter’s Walk, Wiggle, Wag and Run March 23

By Staff | Feb 8, 2024

On Saturday, March 23, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter will be hosting Walk, Wiggle, Wag and Run–a timed 5K run, fun walk and family fun event to benefit the animals – and participants can bring their pup.

Walk, Wiggle, Wag and Run is a family and pet-friendly event intended to raise vital funds to help the homeless, unwanted, and neglected animals that find themselves in our care. Walk, Wiggle, Wag & Run will begin with a timed 5K fun and dogs are welcome. Next there will be a 1-Mile dog friendly “strut” around the neighborhood and CCAS campus. Participants are asked to register to run and/or walk and also seek sponsors to raise money for our shelter. Teams are encouraged and there will be prizes for the top fundraiser and the top fundraising team.

The morning will also feature music, vendors, food trucks and activities for the whole family. The highlight will be a Pet Talent/Costume Contest where pets are encouraged to show off their talents and cuteness. Dogs are welcome and must be on a standard leash. (Retractable leashes are not allowed.) The run starts at 8 a.m., with placement and fun awards at 9:30 a.m. The “strut” starts at 10 a.m. and the Talent Contest starts at 11. Tours of the shelter will follow, and the shelter is open for adoptions and the clinic will be open for clients.

Subaru of Fort Myers is the title sponsor for this event for the third year in a row.

“CCAS brings hope to South Florida’s homeless dogs and cats by understanding their needs and bringing an increased level of awareness to the intolerance of animal abuse in our community,” said Pamela Aubuchon, chairperson of Walk, Wiggle, Wag & Run and CCAS Board vice president. “This family-friendly, dog-friendly event allows each of us to be part of our mission of making a difference for the animals of our community.”

If you would like to support the Cape Coral Animal Shelter by sponsoring this event or by participating in the run, please go to its website at capecoralanimalshelter.com to register.

The mission of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter is to engage a special bond between people and animals by means of adoption services, medical care, education and training for the prevention of cruelty and abandonment. The shelter provides a safe place where animals will remain in our care until they are placed in qualified, forever homes.
