Florida Repertory Theatre will stage “The Gin Game” by D.L. Coburn from Feb. 2 through March 10. The production will be staged in the intimate ArtStage Studio Theatre and stars the same duo of actors from “Driving Miss Daisy.” Tickets start at $65 with discounted previews offered Jan. 31 – Feb. 1. Tickets may be purchased online at floridarep.org or by calling the box office at 239-332-4488 or toll-free at 877-787-8053.

“The Gin Game,” by D.L. Coburn, is a sharp-witted, dark comedy centered around a pair of nursing home residents who get swept away in a never-ending game of Gin. As the story unfolds, tensions and luck ebb or flow as each character reveals secrets and regrets from their lives outside the nursing home. Revelations quickly become weapons as the game transcends from a friendly competition into a mind game fueled by the emotional baggage they each carry.

“We are pleased to present this Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic,” said producing artistic director Greg Longenhagen. “Coburn’s play is smart, humorous, and heart-wrenching, setting up a game of Gin as a metaphor for life.”

The cast features two returning actors, ensemble member Sara Morsey (“Ripcord”) and Mujahid Abdul-Rashid (“Fences”), last seen together in Florida Rep’s Season 24 production, “Driving Miss Daisy.”

The play is directed by ensemble member Maureen Heffernan (“Freud’s Last Session”) who will be joined by an expert creative team including ensemble set designer Ray Recht (“Lobby Hero”), costume designer Alice Neff (“The Mountaintop”), lighting designer Anne Carncross (“Always Patsy Cline”), sound designer Katie Lowe (“The Mountaintop”), and stage manager Mary Ruth Knackstedt (“And Then There Were None”).
