Back The Blue & Green to host rolling rally Saturday

By CJ HADDAD - | Oct 22, 2020

A rolling rally in support of first responders will make its way throughout the county this Saturday.

The caravan is hosted by Cape Coral-based Back The Blue & Green, an organization dedicated to supporting local law enforcement and Southwest Florida’s vibrant military community. The organization, created by Cape residents Vincent Stephen and Jay LaGace, raises funds for and donates to local and nationwide charities that give back to first responders, veterans and their families.

The ride, which will be escorted by the Lost Riders Riding Club of Cape Coral,  starts at Big Ten Tavern at 10 a.m. and stretches 43 miles around the county.

“We’re all about supporting first responders and veterans, and this is a chance for us to celebrate the ones who are living,” Stephen said. “We do a lot for the fallen as well, but we need to let them know that we’re behind them 100 percent.”

Participants are encouraged to decorate their cars so that first responders who see the caravan drive by feel the support, Stephen said.

Any donations made during the ride go directly to four different charitable organizations, split 25 percent each way. They include BLUE H.E.L.P. out of Massachusetts, Collier County 100 Club, Other Side of the Dunes based in Florida and Stop Soldier Suicide based in North Carolina.

“From our mission and our standpoint, those organizations touch every area of our goal to provide the needs of our veterans, first responders and their families,” Stephen said.

The group expects at least 100 participants to navigate their way through the county.

“The more the better,” Stephen said.
