— Cape Coral Gourmet Cooking Club looking for new members

The Cape Coral Gourmet Cooking Club is looking to add new members. The local club was first established in 2001 by Barbara Ripp, Bill and Susan Shallbetter, and others as an offshoot of the Cape Coral New Residents Club. Now 15 years old, the members have prepared some 180 delicious, gourmet meals that rival some of the best restaurants in town.

At one time, the Cape Coral Gourmet Cooking Club had as many as 60 members with four homes hosting simultaneous dinners to serve eight guests each, but dwindling membership has opened up opportunities for new members to join in the fun. New members should enjoy fine dining, food preparation, learning new cooking techniques, and, of course, making new friends. The club normally meets the first Saturday of every month. Hosts select the menu and guests choose the dishes they wish to prepare from among the recipes provided. Most recipes are made from scratch using quality ingredients. The cost of ingredients is divided among participants and normally runs about $35 to $50 per couple per meal.
