Army Reserve Sgt. Christopher B. Post
Army Reserve Sgt. Christopher B. Post completed pre-deployment training at Fort McCoy, Sparta, Wis., in preparation for a subsequent deployment to Afghanistan to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The solider is a member of the 372nd Engineer Brigade, a Reserve unit based at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, Minn.
During the extensive training, the reservists received equipment training and learned procedures and warfighting skills required to successfully complete operational mission objectives while deployed.
The soldiers trained in a field environment and participated in realistic situational scenarios, traveled in convoys, and encountered role players on the battlefield portraying opposing forces.
Other aspects of the training included, weapons qualification, Army Warrior training, physical fitness, leadership, combat life saving, improvised explosive devices, mounted combat patrol operations, urban operations, entry control check points, motor vehicle operations and maintenance, protective mask familiarity and confidence, detainee operations, hand-to-hand combat, reflexive fire, grenades, culture/customs/and language, and land navigation.
In Afghanistan, the 372nd Engineer Brigade will have command and control of several battalions with missions to build bridges and construct and clear roads. Their main mission is to train Afghan soldiers in engineering skills to improve the self-governance capabilities of their nation.
Post, a commanding general’s security team leader, has four years of military service.
He is the son of Mary E. Post of White Bear Lake, Minn., and the stepson of Julia Post of Fort Myers.
The sergeant is a 2004 graduate of the Hill-Murray School, Maplewood, Minn.
