Horlbeck joins staff of Fort Myers Ear Nose and Throat Associates

Dr. Drew Horlbeck recently joined the staff of Fort Myers Ear Nose and Throat Associates, bringing extensive and specialized experience caring for patients with disorders of hearing and balance. Horlbeck also now serves as Medical Director and Surgeon of our Regional Hearing Rehabilitation Center, Southwest Florida’s only center for advanced hearing restoration procedures, which includes our cochlear implant program, and implantable hearing device program an integrative program providing patients the best opportunity to overcome the social and educational isolation inherent in hearing loss. In fact, Horlbeck is currently the only surgeon in Southwest Florida that performs implantable hearing devices and cochlear implants.

Horlbeck graduated from The University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1994, followed by a surgical internship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed his otolaryngology training at the University of California San Diego and fellowship in Otology and Neurotology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

As an Air Force lieutenant colonel, Horlbeck was on the teaching faculty and Chairman of the Wilford Hall Department of Otolaryngology in San Antonio, Texas. After his military service, he was the chief of otolaryngology at the Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital and associate chief of otolaryngology at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville, Fla. He simultaneously held the position of clinical associate professor of otolaryngology at both, the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, and the University of South Florida, Tampa.

Hope Clubhouse teams with McGriff Insurance Services for 2019 Lighthouse Project

Hope Clubhouse recently partnered with McGriff Insurance Services as part of a 2019 Lighthouse Project. Through Lighthouse Projects, teams of volunteers collaborate with non-profit organizations to identify and fulfill projects that enhance the quality of life for residents in the community. Lighthouse Projects are humanitarian in nature, serve the local community, impact more than one single family, and ultimately make a difference.

Together, members of Hope Clubhouse and McGriff Insurance Services spent the morning preparing the day’s “garden to table” lunch and assembling a new 6-foot picnic table and 13-foot umbrella donated by McGriff Insurance Services. In addition, the group worked together outside in the garden, laying nearly 25 tons of compost. After a day of work, everyone shared a meal cooked on Hope Clubhouse’s new grill, donated by McGriff Insurance Services.

Hope Clubhouse, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides support to adults living with mental illness and provides opportunities for paid employment, as well as access to education, health, and wellness.

Sudderth awarded subspecialty certification in brain injury medicine

Fort Myers neurologist Dr. David B. Sudderth has been awarded subspecialty certification in brain injury medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Sudderth, who practices at Kagan, Jugan & Associates, is a board-certified neurologist with nearly 30 years of experience treating patients with back and neck injuries, nerve problems, migraines and brain injuries.

Brain injury medicine is a subspecialty requiring expertise in the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals who have experienced brain injuries or trauma.

Sudderth is one of only four adult neurologists in Florida to have earned brain injury certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

A graduate of the University of Copenhagen Medical School in Denmark, Sudderth completed his residency in neurology at Emory University Hospital in Georgia.

Pham joins Snead Eye Group

Snead Eye Group founder Dr. John W. Snead, M.D., F.A.C.S., and Medical Director Dr. Brad A. Snead, M.D., F.A.C.S., of Snead Eye Group recently an-nounced the addition of Dr. Michael Pham to their practice.

Pham completed his undergraduate degree in Genetics at the University of Western Ontario and his doctorate in optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He trained at the University of Chicago Department of Ophthalmology and Veterans Affairs medical centers in Huntington, W.Va., and Gainesville, Fla.

Pham has been an optometrist in the Fort Myers area for over 19 years and enjoys his own private practice on Sanibel Island. He provides primary eye care for adults and children age 8 years and older, including contact lenses, annual eye exams, treatment of dry eye and ocular surface disease, glaucoma and cataract care.
