John and Ann Barth 60th wedding anniversary

John and Ann Barth celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21, 2010. Both from Milwaukee, Wis., John served during World War II in the Army Air Corps while Ann contributed to the war effort in Washington, D.C., and worked at the F.B.I. John was a mechanical engineer with 10 patents working for industry innovators J.I. Case, and Allis-Chalmers. Designing heavy construction equipment, John was transferred to Topeka, Kan., in 1969. Later, they moved to Olathe, Kan., where John designed the some of the world’s largest mining trucks. Before retiring to Florida, John and Ann lived in Waco, Texas, where they became avid sailors. In 1988, John and Ann moved to Cape Coral where they have since become active in various city of Cape Coral, civic committees and activities. Ann is an accomplished bridge player. John and Ann have two daughters. Deborah (Debbie) Hoofer is the career counselor at Golden Gate High School in Naples, and the AVID coordinator and teacher. Their younger daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Michael Basinsky, reside in Cleveland, Tenn. Kathryn Basinsky, their oldest granddaughter, is a graduate student at the University of Kentucky in diplomacy and international commerce. The youngest, Jacky Basinsky, is studying international business at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The entire family will celebrate the occasion this Thanksgiving in Cape Coral.
