Edward and Ruth Farr to celebrate 65th anniversary

Edward and Ruth Farr of Cape Coral are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on Thursday. They were married April 22, 1945, in Berwyn, Ill., where they met at their friend’s church youth group.

The wedding took place after Ed received his commission and wings at Columbia Army Air Field, Columbus, Miss. After the war, Ed was an apprentice patternmaker and after, he was a journeyman. He worked in Chicago as a patternmaker and foundry engineer.

Ruth worked as a computer operator for the Armed Services office in Chicago and later for Illinois Bell in Northwest Accounting. They were blessed with three children: Betty Ball and family in Denver, Jean Zaboth and family in Nokesville, Va., and Ed and family in Minneapolis. They enjoy their six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

After leaving their home in Elmhurst, Ill., they moved to Cape Coral 23 years ago and continue to be active at Faith Presbyterian Church and the Cast-aweighs Boat Club.

In Ed’s retirement, he takes pride in making doll houses for his great-grandchildren which take priority on his bucket list.

Ed and Ruth are grateful for their 65 blessed years together and their caring and supportive family.
