Winters thows perfect game with 18 strikeouts for Mariner

Mariner 7, North Port 0: Sophomore Gabi Winters pitched a perfect game with 18 strikeouts for the Tritons (16-5). Rylie Moore doubled and had three RBI, while Morgan Tucker hit two triples, scoring twice and driving in a run.

Island Coast 1, Osceola 0: Grady Schwiezer threw a five-hit shutout as the Gators (22-6) won a pitcher’s duel. Logan Hawkins drove in Ceaser Rios for the game’s only run. Island Coast leads the series 1-0 with Game 2 today.    

Region 3A-3

Bishop Verot 5, Aubrey Rogers 0: Joey Lawson blanked the Patriots, striking out 10 batters. He also drove in a run. Owen Rardin cracked a two-run homer, and Grayson Carpenter (3-for-4) hit two doubles and had two RBI. The Vikings (27-1) can advance to the region semifinals with a win today.

Mariner 3, Lemon Bay 2: The Tritons (9-8) face top-seeded Port Charlotte today.

Charlotte 5, Dunbar 0: Charlotte (10-3) will have a home match in the semifinals.

North Fort Myers 5, Cape Coral 0: The Red Knights (8-2) travel to Charlotte for today’s semifinal.
