District 6A-13

Championship

Ida Baker 7, Gateway 0: The Bulldogs (13-13) upended 15-8 Gateway to grab the district trophy and a berth in the Region 6A-4 playoffs. Michel Valdes had a big night. He pitched a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts. Offensively, Valdes singled, doubled and drove in three Ida Baker runs. Robbie Hensley had two Bulldogs RBI. Ida Baker has won seven of its last 10 games.

Charlotte 2, Fort Myers 0

District 4A-11

Championship

Island Coast 7, Lemon Bay 6: Trailing 6-1 going to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Gators rallied with six runs to win the 4A-11 title. Brandon Tuduri’s bases-loaded double got the rally started. Grady Schwiezer and Archer Ellis drove in a run each. Austin Schoolcraft’s sacrifice fly pulled Island Coast (22-6) even at 6 before Logan Hawkins’ walk-off single brought Ellis in with the winning run. 

District 3A-11

Championship

Bishop Verot 3, Avon Park 1: The Vikings (26-1) held Avon Park (19-7) to three hits in capturing the district title and most likely the top seed in the Region 3A-3 playoffs. Due to lighting problems at the Vikings’ home field, the game was played at Fort Myers’ Terry Park. Nick Raber, the winning pitcher, also drove in a run for Bishop Verot.

District 2A-12

Championship 

Oasis at Community School 16, Oasis 1: The Sharks fell to 9-13 with Thursday’s district final loss, likely bringing their season to an end.

TRACK AND FIELD

BOYS: Cape Coral’s Vinicius Coelno won the boys 200 and 400 meter races at the District 3A-11 meet, and was part of the Seahawks’ winning 4×100 relay team. Almiran Thomas, Canon Ehler and Hezekiah Jones were also on that relay team. 

James Johnson of North Fort Myers was the district shot put champion. Khalid Bourne was runner up in the high jump, Dane Sheppard was second in the pole vault and Davion Holness second in the long jump.

Angel Cruz of Mariner was second in the 3200. 

North was third and Cape fourth in the team results.

The meet was held at Cypress Lake..

GIRLS: Noel Davis of the Red Knights was the girls100 hurdles and high jump champ, and teamed up with (Mi’Kayla Witter, Destyni Devine and Mia Viera for a 4×100 relay victory.

The North Fort Myers 4×800 team of Caelyn Lewis, Aurelia Sciandra, Jayden Mitchell and Skyla Stevens finished second.

Giovanna Molloy took second in the pole vault and Destyni Devine second in the long jump.

Brianna Campbell of Island Coast took first in the girls 400 meters. 

Also for the Gators, Samarrah Desir was second to Davis in the high jump.

The Red Knights were third and Gators fifth in the team scoring.

North Fort Myers 14, Fort Myers 4: Jordyn Prado’s grand slam paced the Red Knights (16-5) to the county title. Abigail Hynes homered twice, driving in three runs. Kaliyah Williams had North’s fourth home run and had two RBI. 

Consolation

Cape Coral 5, Estero 2: Cape’s Jocelyn Slater tripled, homered and drove in three runs. Abigail Brannan and Emma White had an RBI each as the Seahawks upped their record to 17-5.

Other games

Port Charlotte 7, Oasis 4: Kyra Cavender had a home run and three RBI for the Sharks (12-11). Faith Tilley doubled and drove in the fourth Oasis run.
