Gateway Charter 3, Cape Coral 2: A long road match took a wrong turn for the Seahawks (12-8). Cape took the first two sets before falling 21-25, 12-25, 25-18, 26-14, 15-13.

Ida Baker 3, Mariner 0: Addison Kalbhenn had 10 kills, Laurynn Mayberry 5 aces and 9 digs, and Taylor Foster made 24 assists in the Bulldogs’ 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 win at Mariner.

ECS 3, Island Coast 0: The Sentinels won by scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-8.

SW Florida Christian 3, Oasis 1: The Sharks (13-3) suffered a rare loss, 22-25, 25-21, 26-23, 25-19, at Southwest Florida Christian.

SWIMMING

Florida Swims: In the biggest meet of the regular season, some Cape Coral and Oasis swimmers made their mark.

The Seahawks’ Emma Best was third in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle, Ale Figueroa third in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 200 individual medley, Sabrina Lara seventh in the 100 backstroke, the 400 freestyle relay team of Best, Sabrina Lara, Ferro and Dayanna Franklyn came in third, and the 200 medley relay team of Figueroa, Best, Ferro and Franklyn was sixth.

For Oasis, Skye Persechino was sixth in the 500 freestyle and eighth in the 100 free.

On the boys’ side, Hayden Tedhams of Cape was second in the 500 freestyle and eighth in the 100 free. The Seahawks’ Reily Rountree was third and Zac Zikovic sixth in one-meter diving,

Zach Poskon of Oasis was eighth in the 200 individual medley and ninth in the 100 breaststroke.
