Wednesday’s semifinals
Barron Collier 57, Mariner 55: The Tritons came up just short against the top-seeded Cougars to end their season at 19-10. Barron Collier (23-5) will be the home team for the Region 5A-3 final.
St. Petersburg 73, Bradenton Southeast 60: The second-seeded Green Devils (22-6) will make the trip down to Naples to take on Barron Collier.

Terry Park, Fort Myers
North Fort Myers 10, Fort Myers 7: Garry Kamphouse and Blake Busbee drove in two runs each to lead the Red Knights (1-0). Matthew Blasena was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Rontrez Johnson was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Gateway 12, Cape Coral 5: Collin Thess had two RBI for the Seahawks. Wyatt Drury and Lucas Habash drove in a run each.
Riverdale 5, Ida Baker 2: Caden Byrd had an RBI for the Bulldogs.
South Fort Myers 9, Island Coast 4: The defending state baseball champions took it on the chin in the season opener as South scored eight times in the fifth and sixth innings. Five of those runs were unearned. Emilio Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored for Island Coast, and pitched three scoreless innings as the Gators’ starter. Mason Blackburn had an RBI.

Charlotte 8, Mariner 1: Romero Gist drove in the Tritons’ run. Kelan Jameson had Mariner’s only hit.
SW Florida Christian 12, Oasis 2: Kavanaugh Brady had a double and a run scored for Oasis, while Jacob Fowler went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Bonita Springs 10, Cape Coral 0: Liberte Schatzman pitched a two-hit shutout and drove in three runs for the Bull Sharks (1-0).
Ida Baker 14, Naples 4 (5 innings): Julie Nieves was 3-for-3 with two doubles, driving in four runs and scoring three. Kaiden Nealieigh, Hannah McGlade and Averie Taylor had two RBI each.
Charlotte 6, Mariner 5: Katie Campbell hit a three-run homer for the Tritons. Cheyenne Waddell was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored, and Taylor Cotoni had a Mariner RBI.
Oasis 15, Dunbar 0 (3 innings): A nine-run first inning got the Sharks off to a roaring start.
