GIRLS BOWLING

District 6 Tournament

At Bowland Cape Coral

Oasis came in second in the district tournament, falling to top-seeded Cypress 3-1 in the championship round but earning a spot in the FHSAA state tourney.

Both teams move on to the state championship tournament Nov. 1-3 at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando.

Earning bids to the state tournament as individual bowlers were Brooke Pabst of Cape Coral, who rolled a 658 series in morning competition; and Katelynn Snyder of Island Coast (507).

Cypress Lake earned the top seed for the afternoon bracket with a 2,423 total pinfall in the morning session. Oasis was second (2,303), with Cape Coral third (2,125) and Mariner fourth (1,810).

Oasis’ Katarina Hagler was the top individual bowler. She posted a 703 series (237-243-226).

GIRLS GOLF

District 2A-13

Island Coast earned a trip to next Tuesday’s Region 3A-3 tournament just outside Orlando with a second-place team finish in Tuesday’s District 3A-13 tourney at Gateway Country Club.

District champs Fort Myers and third-place LaBelle also advanced.

Jada Kohlmeier of Mariner and Isabella Lauzon of Cape Coral reached regional play as the top two golfers on teams which did not advance.

Bishop Verot secured a spot in the Region 1A-3 tournament, coming in second to Community School of Naples.

First Baptist Academy of Naples finished third to move on to regionals, which will be held at Cove Bay Gulf Club in Clearwater next Tuesday.

Oasis’ Riley Fritz finished in a four-way tie for fifth, earning an individual spot in the next round.
