Carr, offense lead Mighty Mussels to 10-1 win

Led by the solid pitching of Jordan Carr and an offense that pounded out 11 hits, the Mighty Mussels thumped the host Palm Beach Cardinals, 10-1, at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium Tuesday night.

Carr allowed just four hits and one run over 6.2 innings to improve his record to 5-0 on the year. He also struck out four and walked only one.

Leading the offense were Keoni Cavaco (2B, three RBI), Alec Sayre (two RBI), Noah Cardenas (2B, two walks, three runs) and Carlos Aguiar (HR, two RBI), who each collected two hits on the night.

Ben Ross also contributed a double and scored a pair of runs.

The Mussels (58-47) scored single runs in the second and third innings before tallying two runs in both the fifth and sixth to build a 6-0 lead. The Fort Myers club then added a single insurance run in the seventh and three more in the ninth.

The Cards’ lone tally came in the 7th.

Hancel Rincon (0-4) suffered the loss for the Cardinals (54-53), allowing six runs on eight hits in 5 innings.

Game two of the series is today at 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
