A senior softball league in the Cape running 45 years strong is gearing up for its fall season.

The Cape Coral 50+ Senior Softball League is now accepting players for the season that runs from Sept. 6 through Dec. 15.

The league is open for all softball players over the age of 50 and offers team play for both men and women.

Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Cape Coral Sports Complex.

“The league operates under the city of Cape Coral’s Parks Department’s adult exercise programs and has been in existence for 45 years,” said league president Tony Volpe. “Players of all abilities are invited to join.”

The fall player fee is $80 that covers the entirety of the roughly 30-game schedule, as well as pregame practices on Tuesday and Thursday nights and weekly Saturday practices.

Volpe said the league is supported by various local merchants that recognize the importance of adult exercise programs and the important contribution that their support makes to the city of Cape Coral. He added a separate softball league for men over the age of 45 will also be offered for the fall season.

More information can be found on the league’s Facebook page by searching the league name.

To register, contact Volpe at 315-246-5056, email ccss50plus@gmail.com, or visit capecoralsoftball50.com.

The Cape Coral Sports Complex is at 1410 Sports Blvd., off Trafalgar Parkway.
