Tommy Bohanon Foundation to host sixth annual Youth Football Camp

By Staff | Jun 2, 2022

Former NFL player and North Fort Myers High graduate Tommy Bohanon will be leading a Youth Football Camp on June 25

The Tommy Bohanon Foundation sixth annual Youth Football Camp returns to Southwest Florida on June 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tommy and Katie Bohanon, founders of the nonprofit, are alumni of North Fort Myers High School where they will host 200 young athletes from grades one through eight, who will attend the camp hosted by Tommy, a former NFL player.

At the camp, these student-athletes do a lot more than perform NFL-style drills.

“Our annual football camp gives us the opportunity to guide kids towards the path to success,” said Tommy Bohanon. “We get to spend an entire day forming relationships with other students and mentors, teaching kids the value of hard work, and helping them build confidence in themselves, all while getting more football experience in a fun environment. These camps, like everything we do at the foundation, are done with the hope and intention of making a positive impact on their future and the community.”

It is expected that local volunteers will participate in this year’s football camp and contribute to its success. Coaches and former D1 athletes are taking roles in the program to mentor the student-athletes. About 200 local youth are expected to participate in camp this year. In preparation, high school student junior coaches are being mentored by professional coaches on the responsibilities of being a coach, gaining new football skills, and learning important life lessons geared toward their future success.

Additional volunteers include teachers and members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, EMTs and North Fort Myers Fire Department who will be providing support throughout the day. Tropical Smoothie Cafe of SWFL will also generously be catering a healthy lunch.

The Tommy Bohanon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting young athletes to reach their highest potential on and off the playing field. Its programs and community outreach events have helped countless kids in the Southwest Florida area.
