City golf championship held at Coral Oaks

The SETI (Sustainable Energy Technologies Inc.) Cape Coral City Championship golf tournament was held over the weekend at Coral Oaks Golf Course. Champions were crowned in the Men’s Championship Flight, in the Ladies Championship Flight and several other flights.

This marks the 33rd time the city golf championship has been held. The 36-hole event included rounds on Saturday and Sunday at Coral Oaks, with a pro-am, sponsored by Roger Dean Chevrolet, held Friday.

In the Men’s Championship Division, Airik Medinis carded a 5-under score of 139 to claim the title. He opened with a 71 Saturday and finished with a 68 on Sunday.

Taking second place was Joey Sagi with a (73-68) 141, followed by Brock Lambert (70-74) 144, David Beck (74-72) 146 and Jim Macelak (74-75) 149.

In the Ladies Championship Flight, Micaela Farah carded 157 (81-76) to earn the title. She was followed in second place by Sondi Walker with a (101-95) 196.

Other top finishers included Jada Kohlmeier with a 202, Michelle Dean with a 203, Linda Smith with a 204 and Margaret Meyer with a 218.

The Ladies Championship Low Net results had Dean on top with a (74-75) 149, followed by Farah with a 157 (81-76), Smith (81-79) 160, Walker (83-77) 160, Kohlmeier (90-72) 162 and Meyer (88-90) 178.

In the Men’s A Flight, Phil Mamone carded a (75-74) 149 to earn the top position. He was followed by Mark Teders (74-78) 152, Danny Magruder (75-81) 156, Tom Hinkle (82-75) 157 with Jeff Straus (82-77), Gregg Willin (73-86) and Michael Christiansen (76-83) all sharing fifth place with scores of 159.

In the Men’s B Flight, Doug Bailey (84-79) and Mark Hedrick (86-77) tied for first with 163s. Gary Eposite finished one stroke back third with a (81-83) 164, and George Peacock (85-81) and David Laudel (80-86) shared fourth with 166 scores.

Louis Monaco claimed the top spot in the Men’s C Flight with a 160, carding rounds of 79 and 81. Gary Herrmann took second with 168 (86-82), while Corbin Odjick (85-85) and Jason Heidig (87-83) tied for third with 170. Kevin Page was fifth with an 172 (83-89).

In the Men’s D Flight, Matt Dukas earned a one-stroke victory with his 171 (84-87), edging Brandon Enwight, who carded a 172 (86-86). Tying for third place with 180s were Ronald Wong (91-89) and Gary Marschmidt (84-96). Jeffrey Mueller shot a 182 (88-94) to claim fifth.
