Bishop Verot Catholic High School has announced that Richard Rode will lead the Vikings as the head coach of the football program. Rode began his high school coaching career in 2003 as the offensive coordinator at Fort Myers High School. He was later hired to lead the Cypress Lake Panthers, his alma mater.

Rode served as the head coach of varsity football at Cypress Lake High School beginning with the 2016 season, where he was able to turn the struggling Panthers into a winning program. His coaching acumen has made him a rising star among football coaches in Southwest Florida.

Rode earned his degree from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia, where he was a triple major (business, accounting and economics).

Rode and his wife, Bishop Verot alum Stephanie (Healy) Rode ’97, reside in Cape Coral and have three children, Charles, Justin, and Brooklyn; and one grandchild, Jocelynn.

Bishop Verot is a co-educational institution in the Diocese of Venice, Florida. It is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and a member of the National Catholic Education Association. Founded in 1962, Bishop Verot currently enrolls over 700 students in grades 9-12.
