District soccer tournaments

Girls soccer

District 5A-11

First round

Cape Coral 8, Island Coast 0: The Seahawks (11-6-1) ousted the Gators in a first-round matchup. Cape Coral plays Ida Baker on Wednesday at North Fort Myers.

Ida Baker 8, South Fort Myers 0: Baker (9-8) cruised into its semifinal matchup with Cape, posting the same first-round score as the Seahawks.

Cypress Lake 3, Port Charlotte 0: The Panthers will face top-seeded North Fort Myers, the tournament host, on Wednesday.

District 4A-8

First round

LaBelle 8, Sarasota Booker 0: LaBelle advances to face second-seeded Lemon Bay on Thursday.

Bradenton Bayshore 3, DeSoto County 2: Bayshore moves on to play top-seeded Mariner on Thursday on the Tritons’ field.

Boys soccer

District 5A-11

First round

Ida Baker 4, Cypress Lake 1: The Bulldogs (6-10-3) move on to face top-seeded Island Coast on Wednesday at Cape Coral.

Cape Coral 8, North Fort Myers 0: Cape Coral (6-5-4), the host school for the tournament, advanced to the semifinals in convincing fashion. Diego Alvarez scored twice and had an assist, while Daniel Word, Joel Garcia and Lucas Cunha had a goal and an assist. Adriel Gomez, Joao Soares and Pedro De Oliveira also scored.

South Fort Myers 3, Port Charlotte 0: The Wolfpack (9-8) will provide the opposition for the Seahawks in Wednesday’s semifinals at Cape Coral High.

Boys basketball

Palmetto Ridge 73, Ida Baker 56: Bo Summersett led the Bulldogs (13-6) with 20 points. Ismael Hajmoussa scored 14 and Devyn Bradwell added 10. Senior night and the last game of the regular season is a home contest Thursday with Cypress Lake.

Mariner 114, SW Florida Christian 106: Even after allowing 45 fourth-quarter points, the Tritons (12-7) came out on top in a shootout against SFCA (12-9). Mariner led 90-61 going into the final period. The Tritons’ last regular season game is Thursday at Bonita Springs.

Community Christian 62, Oasis 55: The Sharks (4-16) completed their regular season. Next up will be the District 3A-8 tournament next week.

Saturday

Girls basketball

Marco Island Academy 63, Oasis 36: Beth Cabral scored 13 points for the Sharks (5-15), who will play Canterbury on Tuesday in the District 3A-7 tournament.

Wrestling

Jack Staples Duals: Oasis posted a second-place finish in the Blue Division of the tournament at Naples High. North Fort Myers was fourth. The Sharks defeated the Red Knights and Archbishop McCarthy before falling to Mater Lakes Academy. That sent Oasis into the B wrestle-offs, where the Sharks finished in a four-way tie for third overall. North wound up fourth in the D wrestle-off won by Clewiston.

Gene Corman Showcase Duals: Mariner finished seventh in the two-day tournament at Charlotte High. The Tritons picked up victories against Pinellas Park and Golden Gate.

Friday

Boys basketball

Evangelical Christian 44, Cape Coral 36: The Seahawks (5-13) were unable to overcome a slow first half, falling to ECS (12-11) on the road Friday. On Tuesday, Cape plays its final regular-season at home against Cypress Lake.

Oasis 51, Island Coast 49: The Sharks (4-14) edged the Gators (4-10) in a crosstown matchup. Oasis plays again Saturday at Marco Island Academy. Island Coast is home Monday with Estero.

Canterbury 62, Bishop Verot 54: A disastrous 31-12 first quarter proved to be too much to overcome for the Vikings(10-10) against the Cougars (10-9). Carson Beisner scored 15 points and Andreas Mantz 14 for Bishop Verot. The Vikings will try to end a recent slump at home Monday against Lemon Bay.

Ida Baker 64, Estero 49: Bo Summersett scored 18 points, Johnny Edwards 17 and Devyn Bradwell 10 to lead the Bulldogs (13-5) past Estero.

Imagine School North Port 53, North Fort Myers 48: The Red Knights (5-12) are home Tuesday to play Moore Haven.

Girls basketball

Community School of Naples 47, Oasis 24: CSN (11-4) sent the Sharks (5-14) into Saturday’s regular-season finale at Marco Island Academy on a sour note.

Bishop Verot 54, Canterbury 34: Four Vikings scored in double figures: Lauren Broomhead 15, Abby Powell 14, Maria Kola 11 and Ashlynn Ulm 10. Bishop Verot (9-15) will face either Oasis or Canterbury (5-14) next Friday in the District 3A-7 championship game.

Ida Baker 36, Estero 22: The Bulldogs (13-10) will ride a seven-game winning streak into a game against Cypress Lake in the first round of the District 5A-11 tournament on Tuesday.

CSN 47, Oasis 24: Community School of Naples (11-4) ran away with the game thanks to a 29-point third quarter.

Boys soccer

Canterbury 8, North Fort Myers 0: The Cougars (14-3-1) sent the Red Knights (0-19-1) into the postseason winless.

Lely 4, Bishop Verot 0: Friday’s loss left the Vikings 7-7-4 heading into next week’s District 3A-8 tournament. Bishop Verot, the top seed, gets a bye into the 3A-8 semifinals on Thursday.

Girls soccer

North Fort Myers 2, Canterbury 1: North (13-1-3) won a non-conference battle of Southwest Florida powerhouses, edging the Cougars (14-2-1) in both teams’ last game before entering their district tournaments. The Red Knights, the top seed in District 5A-11, get a first-round bye in their tourney.

Bishop Verot 2, Lely 2: The Vikings (8-4-3) played Lely (7-6-4) to a draw heading into next week’s District 3A-8 tournament. Jules Taglieri scored both goals for Bishop Verot. Bella Sullivan made an assist. Verot, the second seed in 3A-8, gets a bye into Thursday’s semifinals.

Ida Baker 8, Lehigh 0: Baker (8-8) gained momentum heading into the postseason with a dominant victory against the Lightning (4-14-2).

Thursday

Boys basketball

Ida Baker 63, Island Coast 51: Bo Summersett led the way with 17 points for the Bulldogs (11-5) in a victory against the Gators (4-8). Devyn Bradwell scored 15 and Mason Gonzales added 14 for Ida Baker. Naijhae Cook scored 17 for Island Coast. Baker plays Friday at Estero, while Island Coast travels to Estero.

Community Christian 62, Bishop Verot 44: The Vikings slipped to 10-9 going into a backyard matchup at Canterbury on Friday. Verot has dropped its last four games.

SFCA 56, Oasis 26: With Thursday’s loss to Southwest Florida Christian (12-8), the Sharks are 3-14 going into a Saturday game at Marco Island Academy.

Mariner 72, Riverdale 58: The Tritons raised their record to 11-6 with a home win against the Raiders. Mariner is right back in action Friday at First Baptist Academy in Naples.

Girls basketball

Oasis 47, SFCA 18: Gabby Goldberg scored 14 points, leading the Sharks (5-13) to a road win against Southwest Florida Christian (1-18).

Evangelical Christian 54, North Fort Myers 40: ECS edged within a game of a 20-win season (19-4) with Thursday’s victory against the Red Knights (2-10). North faces old rival Fort Myers on Tuesday in the opener of the District 6A-11 tournament.

Mariner 63, Riverdale 60: Mariner picked up a win in its season finale to stand 5-11 heading into the District 5A-11 tournament and a first-round game with Island Coast.

Estero 51, Island Coast 36: Nicole Rodriguez scored 18 points for the Gators (4-13), who face Mariner on Tuesday in the District 5A-11 tournament.

Boys soccer

Mariner 3. South Fort Myers 0: Closing out the regular season, the Tritons (15-5-2) got goals from Santi Guerrero, Tizi Nogara and Nicco Gerke to down South (8-8). Mariner has a first-round bye in next week’s District 4A-8 tournament.

Ida Baker 1, Estero 0: The Bulldogs (5-9-3) picked up a win over the Wildcats (4-12-2) in the season finale.

Bonita Springs d. Oasis, forfeit: The forfeit leaves the Sharks 6-6-2 heading into next week’s District 3A-8 tournament. Oasis did not play either of its final two matches.

Girls soccer

Estero 8, Ida Baker 0: The 11-2-2 Wildcats dropped the Bulldogs (7-8) below .500 with Friday’s home match against Lehigh remaining to close out the regular season.
