Island Coast boys secure winning season in soccer

Island Coast 9, North Fort Myers 0: The Gators (8-3-2) locked up the school’s first winning season, led by a hat trick from Jimsanderson Midy. Victor De Lima scored twice, William Pinto Arriaga had a goal and two assists, and Enrique Gomez, Jose Rojas and Raheim Butler had goals as well. Gael Flores, Allesandro Argueta, Richard Rodriguez and Anthony Bennett-Hiza contributed assists. The Red Knights (0-15) play Ida Baker on Friday. On Wednesday, Island Coast travels to Charlotte.
Riverdale 2, Mariner 0: Mariner (11-4-2) was surprised by Riverdale (4-3-2) in a shutout loss. The Tritons are off for a week, facing Barron Collier on Jan. 21.
LaBelle 3, Bishop Verot 2: The Cowboys (5-1-3) scored three-second half goals for a comeback victory against the Vikings (5-6-3). Bishop Verot faces Southwest Florida Christian on Friday.
Girls basketball
Cape Coral 55, Mariner 28: Sierra Moore poured in 31 points and made 8 rebounds to lead the Seahawks (15-5, 5-1 District 5A-11) past the Tritons (2-9, 1-3). Kayla Rodriguez added 13 points and five boards for Cape.
Ida Baker 37, Bonita Springs 22: The Bulldogs (8-10) earned their second win of the week. Up next on Friday is a home game with North Fort Myers.
Island Coast 50, East Lee County 40: Thursday’s win lifted the Gators to 4-9 on the season, while leaving East Lee winless (0-12). Island Coast is home with Mariner on Wednesday.
Seacrest Country Day 38, Bishop Verot 27: Seacrest (11-2) dropped the Vikings to 5-15 on the year. Bishop Verot is home to play Oasis on Wednesday.
Boys basketball
Bishop Verot 71, Donahue Catholic 24: The Vikings got 26 points and 11 rebounds from Carson Beisner. Marcos Tejera scored 12 for Bishop Verot (9-5). Donahue Academy fell to 4-5. Verot is right back in action Friday, at home against Seacrest Country Day.
Immokalee 57, Ida Baker 53: Johnny Edwards scored 15 points and Bo Summersett 12 for the Bulldogs (7-4).
Ida Baker plays North Fort Myers on Friday.
East Lee County 34, Island Coast 33: Naijhae Cook scored 14 points to lead the Gators (3-8). Island Cost plays Wednesday at Mariner.
Girls soccer
Mariner 6, Riverdale 0: With Thursday’s win, the Tritons improved to 10-4-3. Next Thursday brings Ida Baker to Mariner.
Ida Baker 6, Oasis 2: A 4-0 second half made the difference in the Bulldogs’ (6-7) win against the Sharks (5-4). Ida Baker takes on Fort Myers next Tuesday, and Oasis travels to Sarasota Military Academy.
Lemon Bay 5, Bishop Verot 3: The 9-4 Manta Rays dropped the Vikings to 5-3-2 on the season. Bishop Verot faces Seacrest Country Day on Friday afternoon.
